Kunjapuri Devi temple, at about 1,676 m, is one of the 52 Shakti Peeths — sacred sites where parts of Sati's body are believed to have fallen. Legend says her chest fell here. So it is not merely a viewpoint; it is a genuinely revered shrine.
From the top you see Swargarohini, Gangotri, Banderpunch and the Chaukhamba range to the north — and the Doon valley, Rishikesh and Haridwar to the south. Few places offer both in one turn.
From Rishikesh, drive about 25-30 km (1 hour) to Hindolakhal / Kunjapuri base. From there it is a short but steep climb of roughly 300 stone steps — 15-25 minutes.
This makes it one of the most rewarding effort-to-view ratios in Uttarakhand: almost anyone reasonably mobile can do it. There is also a longer 8-10 km trail option for those wanting a real trek.
