I grew up in Devbhumi — Uttarakhand. Some of my earliest memories are of pilgrims arriving in Dehradun on their way to the Char Dham. Tired, hopeful, uncertain. Many of them didn't speak the local language. Many had saved for years to make the journey. Many had nobody to call when something went wrong.
I watched the industry that grew around them. Some of it good — earnest priests, kind drivers, accommodating dharamshalas. But much of it cynical: overcharging seniors at the altitude shops, helicopter operators with no medical kits, "tour managers" who disappeared the moment the journey began. The sacred treated as a transaction.
I also watched the new generation of operators emerge — slick, premium, ₹10-lakh-per-yatra brands that made spiritual travel feel like Davos. Beautiful brochures, no soul. And below them, a chaotic middle of WhatsApp aggregators with no accountability.
Satvik Trails is my answer. A travel company that treats the dharma as the product, not the marketing.
