Most Char Dham operators don't serve NRI customers well. They invoice only in INR, work only IST hours, can't handle currency conversion or international payment compliance, and don't understand the specific worries of adult children sending parents from 8,000 km away. We're built differently.
Across our NRI bookings (about 35% of our customer base), three patterns emerge that most local operators don't understand:
| Multi-currency invoicing | USD, GBP, SGD, CAD, AED, EUR. We absorb conversion margin so you pay the same as INR cost at exchange rate. |
| Tax-compliant receipts | Format matching your country's tax/personal accounting needs. Australian/Singapore tax compliance handled. |
| Time-zone-flexible communication | Our NRI relationship lead works your time zone. WhatsApp video calls scheduled for your local evening. |
| Twice-daily WhatsApp updates | Morning and evening (parent's local time) with photo, location, health check (BP, sugar). Pushed to the family group, including international relatives. |
| Emergency protocols across time zones | If something happens at 3am IST, our protocol kicks in: senior leader called, hospital network contacted, you're called within 30 minutes regardless of your local time. |
| OCI / passport coordination | If you're flying in to coincide with your parent's yatra, we coordinate travel desk, visas, transfers. |
| Sahayata Premium | Default tier for NRI bookings — paramedic-level companion, cardiac monitor, ₹5L evacuation insurance. We almost always recommend this for parents above 65. |
Here's what a representative NRI booking looks like, with real numbers:
Family: Daughter in Toronto, son in Bay Area, parents in Pune (father 71, mother 68)
Trip: Char Dham helicopter, late May 2026, 7 days
Selected tier: Group helicopter + Sahayata Plus
Costs:
Invoiced from Toronto daughter in CAD with conversion at booking. Bay Area son handles communication coordination. Both get daily updates. Family WhatsApp group set up with us, parents, and both children. Everyone sees the same updates.
NRI bookings have specific timing constraints — leave coordination, flight availability, currency timing, family availability for video calls. We recommend:
| 6 months before yatra dates | First conversation. Understanding family structure, parents' health, leave constraints. We send 2-3 itinerary options. |
| 5 months before | Booking confirmed. Deposit (typically 30%, in your local currency). Travel insurance arranged. Sahayata tier finalized. |
| 3 months before | Parent's medical clearance shared. Hotel categories confirmed. WhatsApp group set up. |
| 1 month before | Final balance paid. Detailed itinerary with all leader contacts shared. Travel to staging point arranged. |
| 1 week before | Parents briefed via video call. You meet our team via video. Family WhatsApp group active. |
| During trip | Twice-daily updates, photos, health metrics. You sleep without worry. |
| Post-trip | Photo album delivered. Optional family debrief video call. |
Pleasant surprises:
Unwelcome realities NRI families need to know:

| GBP (UK) | £1,900-2,300 |
| SGD (Singapore) | S$3,200-3,900 |

| EUR (Europe) | €2,200-2,700 |
